Guidelines and Recommendations
Here are some guidelines for submitting your proposal. When we review proposals, we look for certain things. The more your written proposal meets the guidelines below, the better its chance for acceptance.
1. Your proposal is clearly written, easy to understand, and well organized. We look for these attributes because an organized proposal frequently indicates an organized presentation.
2. Your proposal should be free of platitudes and generalities and have specific goals for attendees. It might even contain a description of background knowledge and/or experience an attendee should have to benefit from the presentation.
3. Your proposal is designed to help the school psychologist as soon as s/he goes to work on Monday morning. Your proposal should highlight the skills, ideas, strategies, or techniques that can the school psychologist can use immediately on the job.
4. Your proposal indicates empirical support for its recommendations. It includes a sampling of relevant research demonstrating that its suggestions, strategies, or techniques are indeed evidence-based.
5. Your proposal is aligned with the theme of the conference. In general, our conference themes or strands are fairly broad to allow for inclusion of many topics.
